Taketest and Maketest installation and use.
The purpose of the program:
This program allows the instructor to give tests by using a
computer instead of the traditional paper and pencil method. Each
time a test is taken the questions are given in a different order.
The results are stored either on a hard drive or floppy disk and
can be printed out at later time. The computer grades the test.
Tests are created using the program Maketest. A sample test called
ATOM.TST is included with the unregistered copy of the program.
Maketest can import questions from tests previously made on
another word processor. See register.txt for more information.
Installing Taketest and Maketest on you hard drive:
Start Windows95 and click on Start and select Run. Type
and enter A:\install. All of the files will be placed on your
hard drive and a Program Group and Icons for the Maketest and
Taketest programs will be created. If the files are in a drive
other than A drive substitute the appropriate drive for A:\.
When you register (see register.txt) you will receive a registered
version of taketest and a registered version of the program Maketest.
The registration fee includes a site license for both programs. Test
questions can be imported with maketest from files created on another
word processor by saving the file as a text file and then using maketest.
Registration costs $10 + $2 shipping and handling if a disk is sent by the
mail. The program can also be sent via e-mail if your e-mail program
supports attachments or by FTP. There is no shipping fee for copies obtained
by e-mail or FTP.
Using Taketest:
Test Menu
This menu can be used to start a new test or print the results
from a test taken previously. To exit the program select exit or
press Alt-x.
Check Answers Item
This item will cycle through all of the questions on the test so the
student can check his/her answers.
Start form Test Menu
This menu item will allow the user to choose a test from a
list of tests in a file dialog box. One test can be taken during
each test session. Enter student information into the dialog box.
The last name and first name are required, other entries are
optional. To take another test exit the program and start it
again. The test is presented and the answer entered into space
below. Press Enter or click on the OK button when completed
with the question. After all of the questions are completed the
user is asked for the disk on which the results are to be stored.
Choose the appropriate disk. It is suggested that the results
either be printed right away or stored on a floppy disk and printed
later. If a floppy disk is used each student should have their own
disk.
Print results from the Test Menu
Choosing this menu item will print the results of the last
test taken. Choose the drive where the results are stored. The
students name, date, test title, and the number of questions
answered correctly will be printed. Course, period, teacher, and
the actual questions and answers can also be printed if desired.
After the results are printed answers cannot be checked.
Exit
To quit the program select this menu item or press Alt-x.
Help is available at any time during the program by choosing
Index from the Help menu. If you do not know how to use Windows
