  1.         Taketest and Maketest installation and use.
  2.  
  3. The purpose of the program:
  4.     
  5.     This program allows the instructor to give tests by using a
  6. computer instead of the traditional paper and pencil method.  Each
  7. time a test is taken the questions are given in a different order. 
  8. The results are stored either on a hard drive or floppy disk and
  9. can be printed out at later time.  The computer grades the test. 
  10. Tests are created using the program Maketest. A sample test called
  11. ATOM.TST is included with the unregistered copy of the program.
  12. Maketest can import questions from tests previously made on
  13. another word processor.  See register.txt for more information.

  15. Installing Taketest and Maketest on you hard drive:
  16.         Start Windows95 and click on Start and select Run.  Type
  17. and enter A:\install.  All of the files will be placed on your
  18. hard drive and a Program Group and Icons for the Maketest and
  19. Taketest programs will be created.  If the files are in a drive
  20. other than A drive substitute the appropriate drive for A:\.
  21.  
  22.     When you register (see register.txt) you will receive a registered
  23. version of taketest and a registered version of the program Maketest.  
  24. The registration fee includes a site license for both programs.  Test
  25. questions can be imported with maketest from files created on another
  26. word processor by saving the file as a text file and then using maketest.
  27. Registration costs $10 + $2 shipping and handling if a disk is sent by the 
  28. mail.  The program can also be sent via e-mail if your e-mail program
  29. supports attachments or by FTP.  There is no shipping fee for copies obtained
  30. by e-mail or FTP.

  32. Using Taketest:

  34. Test Menu
  35.  
  36.     This menu can be used to start a new test or print the results
  37. from a test taken previously.  To exit the program select exit or
  38. press Alt-x.
  39.  
  40. Check Answers Item
  41.     This item will cycle through all of the questions on the test so the
  42. student can check his/her answers.

  44. Start form Test Menu
  45.  
  46.     This menu item will allow the user to choose a test from a
  47. list of tests in a file dialog box.  One test can be taken during
  48. each test session.  Enter student information into the dialog box. 
  49. The last name and first name are required, other entries are
  50. optional.  To take another test exit the program and start it
  51. again.  The test is presented and the answer entered into space
  52. below.  Press Enter or click on the OK button when completed
  53. with the question.  After all of the questions are completed the
  54. user is asked for the disk on which the results are to be stored. 
  55. Choose the appropriate disk.  It is suggested that the results
  56. either be printed right away or stored on a floppy disk and printed
  57. later.  If a floppy disk is used each student should have their own
  58. disk.

  60. Print results from the Test Menu
  61.  
  62.     Choosing this menu item will print the results of the last
  63. test taken.  Choose the drive where the results are stored.  The
  64. students name, date, test title, and the number of questions
  65. answered correctly will be printed.  Course, period, teacher, and
  66. the actual questions and answers can also be printed if desired.
  67. After the results are printed answers cannot be checked.

  71.     To quit the program select this menu item or press Alt-x.

  73.     Help is available at any time during the program by choosing
  74. Index from the Help menu.  If you do not know how to use Windows
  75. Help choose Using Help from the Help menu.
